Open Door Fund

The OPEN DOOR FUND was launched by Patrick Gordon-Duff-Pennington at the Centre for Complementary Care's 20 th Anniversary celebrations in August 2009.

The world economic downturn has had a devastating effect on everyone, but small charities like the Centre have been particularly badly hit. When people are looking to conserve their dwindling finances, charitable giving is one of the first things to be axed.

From the very beginning, the Centre has always seen everyone who came to them for help irrespective of their ability to contribute financially to the charity's running costs and no-one has ever been turned away – but the drop in donations has made that philosophy harder and harder to stand by, while the increasing stresses in the local community caused by the recession have meant that the demand for what we provide has never been higher.

The OPEN DOOR FUND is intended to do exactly what it says on the tin – keep the Centre's doors open to EVERYONE regardless of their financial resources.

While many charitable trusts and corporate donors are happy to give money for ‘things' – office equipment, supplies and tools – funding for everyday running costs has always been much harder to come by – which is what makes the OPEN DOOR FUND so important.

Centre volunteer Kelly Macvean and her husband Stuart (Executive Director Spent Fuel Management at Sellafield) have personally donated £1,000 to open the Fund – but donations of any size are welcome.

Please help us to continue to help others..
