These are two beautifully converted and maintained properties conveniently situated between the West Cumbrian coastline and the fells in the pleasant village of Gosforth. Although slightly more distant from the Centre than some of the other properties on this site, it is along excellent roads and therefore slightly closer, time-wise, than some of the others.

There is parking in the Pottery car park for one car per party. Please 'phone ahead if you intend to bring more than one car.

POTTERS BARN, Gosforth Pottery, Gosforth, Cumbria, CA20 1AH.

Potters Barn is an imaginatively converted 18th Century barn at Gosforth Pottery. The Pottery is a small working village pottery and shop, and the flat is decorated with interesting pieces from the collection. (These can be removed if children are expected!)

The flat, on the first floor of the barn will accommodate six people. The sitting and dining room is on the second floor with the original barn timbers and corbels. The sitting room has both TV and video. Bed linen is provided, but you should ideally bring your own towels - although they can be supplied by prior arrangement.

Accommodation:

One double with en suite shower, washbasin and toilet.
One twin shared bathroom with washbasin shower and separate toilet.
One bunk bedded room sharing same facilities.
Cot available.
Further bed settee in the in the sitting room.
Fully fitted kitchen with electric oven gas hob, microwave,

Dogs: The flat is not suitable for pets (although they are welcome at Well Cottage).

Well Cottage is a 17th Century stone cottage, the earliest part of Hardingill House - an old Cumbrian farmhouse. It sleeps 5 to 6. A sitting room with access to the patio and garden has been added to make a really comfortable house. Bed linen is provided, but you should ideally bring your own towels - although they can be supplied by prior arrangement.

One ground floor single. Separate bathroom.
One double with en suite shower, washbasin and toilet.
One twin with similar en suite facilities.
Cot available by arrangement.

Old Brantrake is a lovely 17th Century listed farmhouse nestling at the foot of Birker Moor. Just off a narrow and seldom-frequented lane, the house was restored in 1991 to an extremely high standard retaining many original features. Mr and Mrs Tyson live next door, in a converted barn. The property has a private entrance from the car park, a secluded and totally sheltered rear courtyard and glorious views of Muncaster Fell and Lower Eskdale. No smoking.

Hollin Head is a traditional Lakeland cottage that dates back as far as records began in 1586. With stunning views up and down the valley of mountains to the east and the Irish Sea to the west, the cottage is an ideal base for exploring the fells, rivers, lakes and tarns of this beautiful part of the world.

The interior of the cottage has been tastefully modernised whilst retaining typical Lakeland features such as oak beams, an open fireplace, cupboards set deep into the thick granite walls and flagstone floors in the kitchen and dairy.

Situated in upper Eskdale, Woolpack Farm was extensively refurbished and renovated in 2001 to provide a home for the Fox family. A few months later a larger neighbouring farm came up for rent and Mark and Gillian moved from their perfect dream house to a large draughty farm house. Woolpack farm therefore has all the luxuries that make a place, including an aga and underfloor heating!

Situated in the Wasdale valley, Woodhow Cottages are part of a traditional, but unusual working Lakeland farm, being the home of the Cumbrian Goat Experience.

They have three cottages - The Old Barn, Stable End and Gramm Cottage (expected to be ready by Spring 2008).  Stable End has a ground floor bedroom with en suite shower and toilet facilities.

Woodhow Farm is just 10 minutes walk from Wastwater - England's deepest lake. Wasdale also boasts England's highest mountain (Scafell Pike), England's smallest church (St Olaf's) and England's biggest liar (home to the biggest liar competitions).

Dogs: Yes, by prior arrangement and at a fee of £15.00 per dog.

Sleeps:  2 - 6.

Access: There are a couple of steps to access Stable End.
